I'll never understand how four(!) sequels were made for the original, and I'm even more baffled that someone found it suitable for a TV series.

Classic US and Foreign Movies on DVD
Alien is excellent. Not exactly low key, but it's good. Love the haunted house aspect of a sci-fi movie. Steamboy.
