Denis Villeneuve, the talented filmmaker behind Enemy, Sicario and recent sci-fi hit Arrival, is helming the sequel to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, which will bring original star Harrison Ford back, pairing him with new co-stars Ryan Gosling and Jared Leto. The premise: “Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.” At first glance, this plot sounds very similiar to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but we’ll just have to see what Villeneuve has up his sleeve. In addition to Ford, Gosling and Leto, the cast features Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, and Dave Bautista.
